Vegetable Gardening Online Course Overview

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Choose the best site to establish a vegetable garden.
  • Identify soil types and key plant nutrients, as well as explain how organic matter affects both.
  • Choose proper equipment and soil preparation methods.
  • Plan the garden based on vegetable families and compare various gardening methods.
  • Create a vegetable garden design plan that takes into consideration proper planting methods and times.
  • Decide when and how to water, weed, and mulch.
  • Modify planting times and the environment to extend the vegetable growing season.
  • Diagnose insect and disease problems and recommend a course of action for those problems.
  • Describe production practices for specific vegetables and decide when to harvest and how to store them.

Course Outline

You can work on this course any time, 24/7, for up to 60 days. You will watch videos, engage in learning activities, and take quizzes. The course is divided into twelve modules, which can be completed at your own pace. Each module should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

To complete the course, you must access all pages and earn at least 80% on all assessments. A certificate will be available to download after the course is completed.
